7 pages in length. A number of impediments existed throughout the development of Athenian and Spartan political and social institutions. Inasmuch as Sparta was bent upon entering into war, the inevitable outcome was to be one of economic, social and political downfall, even though the Spartans proved victorious. For the Athenians, their desires were merely to establish themselves as a stable civilization progressing toward a lawful and obedient society.
